“Absolutely Nothing”

For my first audio assignment, I decided to read aloud a poem. The picture for this assignment was of a tattoo on someone’s wrist that said the word “poetry”. I immediately identified with this assignment, because I have the word “infinite” tattooed on my wrist. I got it right before I moved in freshman year, and it was inspired by the book Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky. That book contains a poem that I find very deep and meaningful, so I decided to recite it. I won’t lie, the poem is kind of morbid; the whole idea is that this poem was a suicide note.

Part of this assignment was to make this poem come alive after reading it. I attempted this by dropping an object after reading. If you notice, the poem is cut short before its finish (the idea is that the author died before finishing). The dropped object could be left to the listeners imagination, but the idea is that the author of the poem as passed away before being able to finish it.

I know, sorry it’s super sad and morbid. But I’m so in love with this book.

I recorded this using SoundCloud.com, just as we had to do for the very first assignment, and embedded it the same way as well.
